Has anyone received outreach from Sourceforge about your company's review profile? I thought they were an open software download site and am confused...
yes, they are a review site! Definitely less traffic on there than the more familiar review platforms, but we used it before we got acquired to diversify our portfolio 🙂
Yea it's been around for many years and is legit. Just a more niche/vertical site for opensource/dev stuff.
I tried SourceForge back in 2021 and it didn't work at all for us (PartnerStack). In my experience, they greatly overpromised and underdelivered. They estimated an avg of 600-1000 clicks per month for us but we only had 40 landing page visits from them in our one-quarter trial period. If you're considering them, I recommend running some Google searches for your buying terms. I tried a couple myself for Tines, and didn't see SourceForge come up (see attached). If they're not ranking in search for key buying terms in your category, they very likely won't perform for you. And there's probably half a dozen other review sites to prioritize ahead of them.
thanks! yeah, some of the stats they gave us were really suspect 😅 we are going to keep prioritizing the standard set of sites and not worry about sourceforge.
